Margaret McIntosh is an artist living and working in Melbourne, Australia. Margaret’s work looks at the narrative of the everyday. Themes she has explored throughout her career include the urban environment, the fragility of the human condition, our relationships with domestic pets, and the complexities and perceptions of gender in public discourse.

In her most recent work, Margaret observes the urban landscape closely, looking for the things that are changing - shadows on weatherboards, tree leaves changing colour, sites in construction, the ever-transient theatre of a shopping centre parking lot. She records these moments as signals of life around us, small moments that remind us of the passage of time and the impermanence of all things. She shares that "these signs embody the relationships we forge between objects and place, and create the familiar backdrops to our lives."

In 2009 Margaret completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting at the Victorian College of the Arts where she received the Maude Glover Fleay graduate award. In 2016 she earned a Masters of Art Therapy at Latrobe University. She has exhibited and completed residencies across Australia and overseas. In 2024 Margaret was the inaugural recipient of the Becker Minty Award at the Paddington Art Prize, presenting her first solo exhibition at Becker Minty Hobart in 2025.
