Before opening Becker Minty in 2007, founding director Jason Minty spent twelve years in the airline industry, as a flight attendant then International Customer Service Manager for Qantas. Whilst travelling the world Mr Minty honed his eye for the unique and unexpected, often bringing home beautiful gifts and one-of-a-kind pieces for his family and friends. After leaving the industry and finding himself at a career crossroads, he was inspired to pursue his love of curating and bring all of the beautiful things he had encountered into one space. He joined forces with fashion designer Christopher Becker and their eponymous Sydney concept store was born.
Over the past seventeen years, Becker Minty has cemented its reputation as one of the leading interior design and lifestyle tastemakers in the industry. With Mr Minty at the helm, Becker Minty has discovered award-winning artists, been the launching pad for now beloved Australian brands and introduced iconic design names to the Australian market.
Whilst constantly reinventing and evolving, Becker Minty has established a bold and distinctive aesthetic. Every item is carefully curated by Mr Minty and chosen to surprise and delight customers. In December 2022 Becker Minty opened a new store in Mr Minty’s home town of Hobart, combining art, retail and dining for a truly special customer experience. Located in the heart of the new store, the Becker Minty Dining Room is the latest manifestation of Mr Minty’s inventiveness, discerning eye and love for the finer things in life.
