Dan Schneiger

Dan Schneiger was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His first introduction to art was in early childhood, when he would accompany his mother to her classes at art school. His passion for art and design led him to complete a Master of Architecture at the University of Minnesota, after which he practiced as an architect for 20 years. It was in 2014 that he moved to Miami to pursue his art practice full time.

Schneiger’s architectural roots shine through in his creations, which encompass sculpture, furniture and lighting. He works with a vast array of materials, including wood, plaster, resin, rubber, pigment and found objects. A portion of every sculpture is also composed of construction debris diverted from becoming landfill. He pieces these materials together like building blocks to create geometric forms that resemble architectural maquettes- visions of monolithic structures, complex cityscapes or striking rock formations.

Influenced by masters like Brancusi, Noguchi and Neutra, Schneiger has a subtle eye for weight, balance and patina. He is compelled to make objects that are architectural whilst being distinctly hand-made, exploring the symbiosis between art and architecture, and the tension between technology and handcraft. He began his association with Becker Minty in 2017.
