Giorgia McRae is an emerging, abstract artist living and working on Gadigal Land in Sydney, Australia. Working predominantly with metal and steel, McRae creates geometric compositions, abstracting both imagined still life and the human form. In her work, she explores both the tangible and intellectual need for order by articulating the contrast between sharp, minimal line and negative space. Her steel compositions, intentionally bereft of background, often traverse the line between two- and three-dimensional order.
Giorgia earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Art School in 2020. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at prominent Australian galleries, and is widely collected. In 2023 she was a finalist in the It's a Small World Sculpture Prize. Her association with Becker Minty began in 2023.
