Garth Nichol is an artist based in the Southern Highlands of NSW. With his miniature artworks, Garth seeks to explore the delicate balance between the mundane and the extraordinary. He says, "these small, intimate compositions invite the viewer to pause and reflect on the overlooked details of everyday objects, celebrating their inherent beauty and quiet presence."
Garth shares that "working within a miniature scale allows me to focus on the subtleties of light, texture, and form. By magnifying these humble items, I draw attention to their textures and imperfections, offering a new perspective that challenges the viewer to slow down and notice what would otherwise go unnoticed."
His palette blends inspiration from the Dutch Masters with contemporary flashes of neon and iridescent pigment to bring still life into the present. As Garth explains, "the small details tell stories beyond the surface. Through this process, I hope to inspire others to find beauty in the overlooked, and to embrace the power of quiet contemplation in a world that often moves too fast."
