Alice Xu is an emerging artist working in drawing and painting. In her works, Alice records scenes of everyday life. Her landscapes focus on the waste and decay of inhabited spaces and structures over time, and the inextricable links between people and their environment. Her figures take the role of contemporary 'flaneurs', going about their daily business and interacting with one another, seemingly unaware of the artist's gaze.

Using various methods of collage and photomontage, Alice combines images and creates fictional yet believable worlds. By compositing and arranging these unappealing scenes into something more whimsical and pleasant, she aestheticises her experience of the world and brings attention to the innocuous but meaningful moments all around us.
