This artwork is from Sharon Collyer's collection 'The Lovers'. This richly layered series of mixed media paintings explores the experience of flourishing and finding oneself within a nurturing and loving relationship. Created in pairs, these works mirror the ways in which two unique individuals can find and then begin to reflect one another. Through expressive yet considered mark-making, and a subtle palette of soft greens and greys, Sharon expresses feelings of connection, love and self-actualisation. 

Sharon Collyer is an artist based in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. Her work is inspired by the colours, textures and patterns she observes in the world around her. She is driven by a fundamental curiosity for colour, composition and surface, utilising a variety of materials including acrylic, graphite, willow charcoal, ink, pastels, and chalk paint, slowly resolving her works over many days and weeks.
