The collision of the natural and unnatural is ever present in this world. Alicia Taylor's new body of work, Rockets & Romance plays on this juxtaposition, and in the process captures the poignancy of our presence on earth. Taylor's fascination with the intensity and chaos of the fireworks that filled the sky near her Sydney home in Elizabeth Bay, compelled her to create "these sparkly human-made moments with nature’s own beauty, the sky. I’ve always been fascinated with the sky, most of us are. You could stand in the same place every day and over time nature shows some of the most beautiful art, and never to be repeated moments," explains Taylor. Always seeking out diversity in tonality and colour, she melds the beauty of nature into her work. For Rockets & Romance the artist captured pink rain during a sunset, dust filled skies at midday and morning clouds captured when flying in from London.
