Tempo

Tempo

Alberto Ferretti is moved by the rhythms of life. An astute observer, he draws inspiration from the world around him, driven by the tenets of presence, patience and intuition. His desire to create is instinctual and unwavering. For him, making art is an essential part of his quest to understand the complexities of life. Alberto’s exhibition ‘Tempo’ presents a series of works that serve as glimpses into his subconscious; experiences and emotions drawn from deep within and brought back to life through painting.

Guided by process, he begins his paintings with no preconceived theme or composition, simply allowing the figures to emerge out of the painting with each stroke of the brush. Sometimes these characters come to resemble people from real life encounters and sometimes they exist entirely within the world of the painting. Whichever the case, they remain abstracted and anonymous, allowing for open-ended connections between subject and audience.

Alberto creates with raw, intuitive energy. He taps into the rhythms of his creative instinct, with its ebbs and flows, its crescendos and diminuendos. His palette is deep and earthy, reflecting his unfiltered process and further grounding the work. Many of his colours are drawn from nature, and vigorously applied to the canvas using brushes and palette knives. Through his distinctive style Alberto connects to the heartbeat of life, laying bare the most vulnerable parts of himself for the viewer.
