Creating Objét for Architects 

This playful new series is based on dream collaborations with mid-century modern architects that have inspired Jan's work. It is both an homage to and celebration of the work of these architects, while also investigating the genesis of creative expression. Each instalment in the series focuses on a different influence, with pieces that respond to a specific architectural space, and highlights the respect and admiration at the heart of the series.

Dream brief no. 1: Carlo Scarpa’s Olivetti Showroom, Venice 

In this first body of work, Jan fulfils an imagined brief from Italian architect Carlo Scarpa (1906—1978) for his Olivetti Showroom completed in 1958. These artworks speak to and highlight Scarpa’s iconic design – a harmony of organic materials, textures and linear brass elements. Her response is imbued with an honesty and reverence that is clear in both intention and materiality.
